Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528)
A man of many talents, Dürer is one of the leading artists of the German Renaissance. Both a painter and draftsman, an art theorist and a mathematician, he also distinguished himself in the art of printmaking, mastering the technique to an outstanding degree. The Wittert Museum, which houses a significant portion of Dürer’s engravings (bequest of Adrien Wittert, 1903), reveals some of the German master’s finest works here.
