Abstract: Le travail de Peter Downsbrough est ancré à un « vocabulaire » minimaliste fait de mots simples et de lignes disposés dans un espace le plus souvent bâti. Comme pour la majorité de ses oeuvres, l’installation du Sart Tilman s’inscrit dans une volonté de redéfinition de l’environnement perçu : des pièces d’acier le délimitent comme des fenêtres encadrant l’image de l’institut de Botanique dessiné par Roger Bastin, de la nature environnante et du ciel. Sur les tubes, comme à la marge d’une page, s’inscrivent les mots TOUR / AU – DE – LA – LE – RE, donnant à l’oeuvre la valeur d’une question ou d’un commentaire sur la spatialité, les perspectives, l’architecture et le langage.
