Models and relief maps by Gustave Ruhl
Beyond the relief map of the noble City of Liège—which is both his best-known and most ambitious work—Gustave Ruhl created a series of models and relief maps, some thirty of which are held at the University of Liège. Created at different scales and with varying degrees of precision, these pieces bear witness to the amateur archaeologist’s research, while reflecting his undeniable taste for model-making. As part of the project to promote the Ruhl collection, carried out jointly by the Wittert Museum and ULiège Library, all of these objects underwent a major restoration (Conservart s.a.) and digitization (Atelier de l'Imagier) campaign in 2023.
